An Open Letter to Mel Brooks

Dear Mr. Brooks,

A woman being raped by her captor, even--nay, especially--if that woman has been comically established as a tease and/or slut, and even--nay, especially--if she ends up enjoying it, is not the comedy goldmine of a situation on a Broadway stage in 2007 that it may have been in a monster-movie sendup in 1974.
